Richard is interested first and foremost by the characters within the narrative of film and the way that both moving and still images along with appropriate colour choices convey their stories by creating atmosphere and feeling.

He has travelled extensively as a filmmaker and stills photographer, which has built upon his other passion of exploring other cultures. He spent over a year living in Florence, Tuscany, where he shot over 50 commercials and eventually returned to the UK to continue pursuing his work in narrative fiction and commercials.

It is his love of still images, training originally by shooting on monochrome film and exploring developing and printing techniques, that has informed his fondness of traditional aesthetics. He currently enjoys find a unique approach to each project and collaborating with the director to find a photographic style that serves the story respectfully and attempts to push the boundaries of naturalism and dynamism.
